The first 4 nights and on the last night we will be staying at Nyumbani Hostel situated 30min walk away from Arusha city center. Although the hostel is close to the busy town it is surrounded by greenery. You have a choice of booking a single bed in a shared quadruple room or a private room all for yourself (please specify your preferred room option at the notes when signing up for the course). Sheets, towels and room cleaning included.
The hostel is run by Tanzanian/German couple that can also organize extra trips to Mount Meru, Mount Kilimanjaro, Zanzibar island etc. after the retreat if you wish to extend your stay in Tanzania.
The Safari
On the 5th day of our retreat we’ll be going on a 5-day safari together to the Northern Circuit National Parks.
On the first day we’ll be visiting Tarangire National Park which is famous for it’s large herds of elephants and the majestic Baobab trees. If we’re lucky we will also see our first lions. Before darkness we’ll leave the park towards the Lake Manyara campsite.
On day 2 of the safari we will drive to Lake Manyara National Park which is famous for it’s tree lions and the uncountable numbers of birds.
On day 3 of the safari we will start driving towards the Serengeti National Park, where we’ll arrive around lunchtime. We pass the Ngorongoro Crater to enjoy the amazing view and take some pictures and have the full afternoon game drive in the Serengeti. Before darkness we leave the park towards the Seronera campsite.
On day 4 of the safari we will enjoy last morning game drive in the Serengeti in search of wildlife. The word “Serengeti” is derived from the Maasai language Maa of the term “Siringitu” which means “the endless land” or “the endless level”, here you will experience this endlessness with your own eyes. After lunch we will drive back toward the Ngorongoro Conservation Area where we’ll be staying overnight at the Simba Public Campsite.
On the last day of the safari we’ll be visiting the Ngorongoro Crater where you have the chance to see one of the last rhinos in the world! We will leave the crater in the afternoon as per government policy and drive back to Arusha to reach our accommodation before darkness.
During the safari we’ll be staying in campsite tent accommodation. You will be sharing the tent with one other guest from the same gender. Breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinking water included during the safari. And of course we will still be practicing yoga and meditating daily while enjoying the savannah views.
